Program
Welcome to Rome.
From the airport you will be transferred by a VIP private car to your hotel. Here you will find the Moto Tours Italy staff, ready to warmly welcome you to Italy.
Morning or early afternoon arrival is strongly recommended.
In the late afternoon we will be waiting for you in the hotel bar for a Meet and Greet amongst tour colleagues. We’ll then go and pick up the bikes and bring them back to the hotel garage.
Once back at the hotel the Moto Tours Italy staff will give a general briefing of the tour details, and will be happy to answer any questions.
We are now ready to go out for our Welcome Dinner during which you’ll learn more about what to expect in the exciting upcoming days.
We leave Rome heading West to Civitavecchia, riding through the Cimini Mountains and astonishing roads around vulcanic lakes.
In the afternoon we will reach the port of Civitavecchia where we board the ferry to cross the Mediterranean Sea for an overnight cross to Olbia on the NE coast of Sardinia.
We will be heading south towards the jagged scenic roads of the Monti del Gennargentu, a large and wild area dotted with canyons and deep gorges. This part of the island is completely uncontaminated, and many rare species of wildlife have made this area their home.
We will start from the splendid Cala Gonone and immediately travel along the fantastic ss125 famous for its infinite curves and breathtaking views of the Gorropu gorges, crossing the Ghenna ‘e Silana pass to arrive in Santa Maria Navarrese at the end of the suggestive gulf of Baunei.
From there we will head towards the hinterland, precisely in the ancient region of Barbagia, travelling along breathtaking roads full of curves to finally reach the hotel and enjoy an excellent typical dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Today is a short riding day but there will be no shortage of beautiful twisties that characterize this gorgeous island.
We point the wheels in the direction of one of the most beautiful and colorful villages in Sardinia, Bosa, listed among “the most beautiful villages in Italy”
You will be amazed by a magical atmosphere with its colorful houses, the castle that stands out above the town, all wrapped in a panorama of the sea from where we can admire a breathtaking sunset.
We leave the splendid village of Bosa approaching the most famous and panoramic road in Sardinia, the Bosa – Alghero, 46 km of curves overlooking a crystalline sea: the perfect postcard to photograph and to imprint in our minds the Grande Bellezza for the rest of our lives.
We will arrive in Alghero, a beautiful city with great Catalan influences famous mainly for the manufacture of Coral, which combined with gold creates a combination of truly splendid jewels.
We leave behind the wonderful Alghero and its postcard views to head towards the Coghinas lake where, immediately after, we will face the legendary SS392 going up towards Tempio Pausania and then continue arriving in Santa Teresa di Gallura. Let’s not forget that today is the day we will put the wheels of our motorbike on the land of Corsica, so we must necessarily be in Santa Teresa di Gallura in the middle of the afternoon to take the ferry that will take us straight to Bonifacio, where a beautiful hotel surrounded by nature with its beautiful bungalows awaits us.
Today we continue to dream starting exploring Corsica!
We leave Bonifacio heading north. The ride is spectacular through challenging mountain roads with breath-taking sceneries around us!
Col de Sorba, Col de Verde and Col de la Vaccia are the three mountain passes to challenge; a truly rollercoaster that bring us to Sartene where we take the National road T20 and above all we will take a deep breath after so many endless emotions!
In the afternoon we will head to Venaco where we will spend the night.
Today we start in the Corsica mountains and we end up by the sea. From a tiny hamlet in the heart of the island to a lost corner on the western coast. Through these breathtaking roads we will discover the island’s whole encyclopedic history!
The road is narrow and windy, and the scenery is distracting in its beauty, with majestic red cliffs that tumble into the turquoise water.
It’s really worth slowing down every now and then.
Stopping to take a photo of the Calanche, another UNESCO site, is mandatory. This incredible place, far above the sea, has views that are close to surreal. Some of the rocks have distinctive shapes: the head of a dog, a heart, a bishop.
From Ferayola, traveling on the fabulous roads of this rugged island, we head north following the coast line around the thumb of Corsica before heading to Bastia.
Today’s riding is always a most unforgettable motorcycle experience; a perfect mix between coastline roads with their dramatic cliffs, desolate areas like the Desert des Agriates, and twisty mountain roads.
This is a great day, with endless curves, one after the other, on the roads of the Motorcyclist’s Tuscan Academy!
Back on the bikes in Livorno we will challenge the sweeping road towards Volterra, before plunging into the scenic roads of the Colline Metallifere, a little-known, but fascinating part of Tuscany.
In the last part of the day you ride the back-roads that bring you to the Abbey of San Galgano, home of our very well known sword in the rock.
Today we head back to Rome for our last amazing ride together.
We leave Siena heading south towards the Crete Senesi, famous for its stunning moonscape.
We arrive in Radicofani where we stop for lunch. Radicofani is a stunning Orange Flag awarded town (The Orange Flag Award was an idea formed by the Italian Touring Club in 1998 with the aim of promoting tourism in lesser known places in Italy) which surrounds the base of a hill on which the majestic fortress has stood since 973AD.
We head now south towards Tuscia, an area once inhabited by the Etruscans. This is also one of Italy’s biggest hazelnut grove areas, the small nut that Ferrero magically transforms into the famous Nutella spread.
Unfortunately time has come to say Arrivederci to your new buddies and pack your bags.
Today you will be transferred to the airport according to your flight schedule.
We will be waiting for your next Moto Tours Italy adventure!
See you soon!
